The D.C. Everest School District will offer in-person, blended and virtual instruction options for students when school begins this fall, according to a news release issued Friday.
For in-person instruction, 4K and elementary students will be placed in cohorts. 4K students will attend half-day, in-person classes Monday through Friday, while elementary school students will attend full-day, in-person classes Monday through Friday.
At D.C. Everest Middle School and D.C. Everest Junior High School, students will be divided into two cohorts. Cohort A will attend school in person on Monday, Wednesday and every other Friday, while Cohort B will attend in-person classes on Tuesday, Thursday and every other Friday.
On the days students are not attending in-person classes, they will participate in remote learning.
At D.C. Everest Senior High School, each student will have a unique, flexible, in-person schedule based on the courses in which they are enrolled. Teachers will schedule in-person class sessions each week.
The Everest Virtual Academy is an option for independent, online learning for K-5 and 6-12 students who prefer an entirely virtual learning experience, school officials said. Through the EVA, all courses take place online with no in-person instruction. Students can register at this link through Aug. 10.
Building principals will share additional details and COVID-19 protocols in the coming weeks, while plans will be updated and reviewed as needed by the D.C. Everest School Board.
D.C. Everest’s announcement comes on the heels of the Wausau School District’s decision to begin the fall semester virtually, a decision announced late Monday. School officials have not said whether sports or other co-curricular activities are still being planned for the fall.
