Wausau schools will hold ceremonies this week for high school graduating seniors, with some restrictions in place.

On Tuesday, Wausau East High School will host graduation at 7 p.m. at Thom Field, 1601 N. 10th St., Wausau. Then on Wednesday, Wausau Area Virtual Education graduates will be honored with individual ceremonies at Longfellow Administration Center.

Wausau West High School graduation ceremonies are set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Thom Field.

Seniors from the EEA Learning Academy will graduate at 7 p.m. at the track and field bleachers at Wausau East, 2607 N. 18th St.

Citing the large number of graduates at Wausau East and West, school officials implemented new protocols to ensure safety.

Wausau School District Coordinator of Communications and Marketing Diana White said graduation events are not open to the public this year.

In addition, each graduate is allowed a maximum of four guests. Every attendee is required to wear a mask or protective face shield. Diploma covers won’t be distributed and graduates won’t shake hands while walking across the stage.
