Why did you choose UW-Stevens Point at Wausau?
I chose UW-Stevens Point at Wausau because it was affordable, and I could complete the classes I need while staying close to home. The faculty are very nice and are always there to help you. Because it is a small campus, they get to know you and don’t see you as just another student.
What surprised you the most about the university when you arrived on campus?
I was most surprised by the amount of support and help you receive no matter what the problem is or what area of help you need. There is always someone willing to help you. They want you to succeed.
How or when did you discover your purpose? How did UW-Stevens Point at Wausau faculty/staff help?
I discovered my purpose by being a campus ambassador. I enjoy meeting potential students and sharing my story with them in hopes of inspiring them to have the same success I have had. The faculty and staff have inspired me to always have a positive outlook even when things aren’t so positive.
Why did you choose your program/major?
I chose nursing because I love helping others, and I wanted to do something that makes a difference in people’s lives. Nurses meet and care for different people from all walks of life.
Who has been your favorite professor or staff member?
There are so many amazing professors and staff members at UW-Stevens Point at Wausau, including those in the business office, kitchen, Solution Center, TRIO and maintenance department.
In addition to being a college student, what takes up your free time?
I spend a lot of time working at Primrose Memory Care in Weston and at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. I am a certified nursing assistant, and I love my job. I also like to sew and spend time outside.
What do you plan to do after attending UW-Stevens Point at Wausau?
After earning my associate degree, I am planning on transferring to the UW-Eau Claire College of Nursing at the Marshfield Medical Center to complete my bachelor’s degree.
To make the most of their college experience, what advice would you have for incoming students?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help from your professors because they have your best interest in mind. Also, don’t shy away from asking other students for help. They are going through the same experiences as you; they know how you feel, and it is a great way to make new friends.
