Investigators are working to pinpoint the cause of a fire at an Antigo home that left one person dead.

Crews were called at about 5 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 200 block of South Virginia Street in Antigo for a report of heavy smoke. Flames were visible when firefighters arrived on the scene.

After the blaze was brought under control, crews discovered a body inside the home. The name, age and gender of the victim has not yet been released.

Several fire departments responded, along with Antigo Police, deputies with the Langlade County Sheriff’s Department and the Langlade County Coroner’s office. The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
