Wausau Pilot & Review

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale girls basketball team maintained its tie for first place in the Marawood Conference South Division with a 49-32 win over Wausau Newman Catholic on Thursday night at Auburndale High School.

The Eagles are now 14-4 overall and 10-2 in the Marawood South, remaining in a tie for first place with Wisconsin Rapids Assumption atop the conference standings.

Josie Ertl scored 13 points and Annamarie Aue added 10 for Auburndale.

Maggie Wulf scored 11 points and Lily Shields chipped in nine for Newman Catholic, which falls to 5-10 overall and 1-9 in the Marawood South.

Both teams host nonconference games on Monday – Auburndale against Pittsville and Newman Catholic against Tigerton.
