The man who perished in a Jan. 23 fire at a Marshfield trailer home has been identified as 62-year-old Herman J. Greuel.

The blaze, which resulted in about $25,000 in physical damage, was caused by an overloaded electrical extension cord, officials said.

Crews were called at about 3 p.m. Monday to the Frey Court home, where they discovered heavy black smoke and flames. Greuel’s body was discovered inside, Marshfield Fire officials said.

Greuel was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was withheld until relatives could be notified.
