WAUSAU WEST – Wausau West won eight of the 14 matches to defeat Wisconsin Rapids 41-25 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference wrestling dual meet Thursday at West High School.
West’s win creates a three-way tie for the conference regular-season championship as the Warriors, Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield each finish with a 5-1 dual meet record.
Nathan LaRue (182 pounds), Colton Geurink (22), Athan Somers (285), Gavin Lang (126) and Gabriel Ramos (145) all won by pin for Wausau West.
Joseph Berens earned a technical fall win at 195, and Reed Napiwocki (170) and Sam Galang (113) won by decision as well for the Warriors.
The conference meet will be held at Marshfield on Saturday, Feb. 5.
