Co-Sponsor a Refugee Family. Wausau has begun to welcome and resettle Afghan refugee families and will continue to throughout the next year. A brand new branch office of the Ethiopian Community Development Council, Inc. (ECDC) is setting up operations and recruiting local volunteers to play a vital role in the integration and core service needs of incoming families. Co-sponsors also work together to collect in-kind donations and financial support that supplements the one-time government grants allocated to each family. If you are interested in this opportunity, email Eric Yonke, [email protected].

Engage with BGC Members at the D.C. Everest Middle School Site. The D.C. Everest Middle School Boys and Girls Club Site is looking for some extra help! Dedicate 1-2 hours a week Monday-Friday between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to help with front desk sign in, outdoor recess supervision, engage with club members in gym/games room activities, STEM and more! Contact Mao at 715-845-2582, extension 203, or [email protected].

Support the Warming Center. Catholic Charities is looking for volunteers to help in the warming center in the First United Methodist Church. Shift times and length are flexible and the most needed times to fill are overnight from 8 p.m. or 9 p.m. until 10 a.m. Teams are encouraged to sign up for one time or on-going participation. Volunteers are needed to come in at 9 a.m. to do laundry (scrubs, wash cloths, pillowcases and towels).
