Robert Oleson
Robert “Bert” Oleson, 70, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 22nd, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center in Weston, WI surrounded by his wife and family.
Bert was born December 5th, 1951 in Sturgeon Bay, WI to Emery and Arline Oleson and graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School before receiving his bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, where he met his wife, and studying for his PhD in history at The University of Toledo in Ohio. He was a very caring and supportive husband, loving father, and found a successful career as a closing coordinator at Coldwell Banker Action Realty in Schofield. Bert was a kind and gentle man who faced every challenge head on with the utmost honesty, courage and confidence.
Bert is survived by his wife, Carol, whom he shared 45 years of marriage; his children, Christie Oleson and Tim (Katy Hale) Oleson; his brother, Michael (Peggy) Oleson; his granddaughter, Lydia Reissmann; seven nieces and nephews, Derek (Deanna) Oleson, Scott (Anna) Oleson, Jeremy Oleson, Melody (Arthur) Jacobs, Brian (Shari) Ziebell, Kevin Ziebell, and Allen Ziebell.

Marshal L. Marone
Marshal Lynn Marone, Weston, passed away with his family by his side on Friday, January 28, 2022 just four days before his 90th birthday.
Lynn, as he liked to be called, was born on February 2, 1932 to Elmer and Mary Ruth Marone in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in Detroit and served in the Navy on the destroyer USS Hunt (DD-674) from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. Lynn was trained in electronics in the Navy, which led to his working career as an electronics technician.
He married Caryl Katz on April 11, 1953 at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Reformation in Detroit, Michigan. Together they raised three children.
Lynn was the patriarch of the Marone family and spent a lifetime enjoying hunting and fishing well into his 80’s, getting an 8-point buck just a few years ago. He passed that passion on to his sons and grandchildren. Another one of Lynn’s passions was music. He enjoyed many forms of music including singing in the church choir for many years, and after his retirement also sang for many years with the River Valley Harmonizers (The Barbershoppers). He kept bees, made maple syrup, was a member of the Rib Mountain Gem and Mineral Society, was involved in 4-H, enjoyed photography, and was a Detroit Tigers fan.
The family moved to the Town of Maine in Wisconsin in 1969 where they resided for many years. Many memories were made there, especially celebrations of birthdays and holidays.
Lynn is survived by his wife Caryl of 68 years, his daughter Barbara Wilcox, son Doug Marone (Perri Ducklow), and son David (Tammy) Marone. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kathie (John) Hannie, Becky (Lucas) Olli, Lisa Marone, Michael Marone, Adam Marone, and Eric (Brittany) Marone. He was blessed with great grandchildren Tressa and Tyler Feiner, Marshall and Mitchell Olli, and Ava and Elias Marone.
A celebration of his life will be held at Brainard Funeral Home in Weston, Wisconsin on Monday, February 7, 2022. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service officiated by Pastor Steven Grunwald at 11 a.m.
Janet M. Zastrow
Janet M. Zastrow, 72, Wausau passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born April 27, 1949, in Wausau, daughter of the late Reinhold and Gladys (Mcgonigal) Ziech. On September 3, 1968, she married Garry Zastrow at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wausau. He preceded her in death on June 26, 2009.
In her earlier years Janet drove bus for the City of Wausau. After her children were born, she stayed home to raise them and was a proud homemaker. Some of her favorite pastimes included spending time with her family, especially Karen, cooking, having company around the fire and grilling out hot dogs.
Survivors include her children, Scott Zastrow, Wausau, Karen Zastrow, Weston and Steve (Amanda) Zastrow, Wausau, one grandson, Jadden Knetter, her siblings, Lenny (Denise) Ziech, Merrill, Robert Ziech, Wausau, Jim Ziech, Oklahoma, Mary (Dave) Kitsemble, Schofield, Sandy (Tony) Milanowski, Hatley and Marie Johnson, LaCrosse and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Sheridan (Leroy), Wayne, and Arlene Hanke, and her brother and sister in law Ron Johnson and Sharon Ziech.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Private family burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home. Steven S. Borchardt
Steven Scott Borchardt, age 63, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 28, 2022. Steve fought a courageous battle with ALS.
Steve was born on January 20, 1959 in Wausau to the late Donald and Gladys (Spindler) Borchardt. Steve was united in marriage to the love of his life Diane Fandrey on December 13, 1980 at St. Florian’s Catholic Church in Hatley. Steve and Diane were blessed with 41 years of marriage, two children, six grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
Steve was employed at Domtar (Weyerhaeuser) in Rothschild since 1984. Due to his ALS diagnosis, he was no longer able to work but was proud to be able to help coworkers fix problems over the phone. He enjoyed his Saturday breakfasts and playing Sheepshead with his friends there.
Steve cherished time with his family. He enjoyed traveling on family vacations across country first with his parents and then with his own family. He and Diane made it a priority, and enjoyed, attending many sporting events for their children and grandchildren. Steve could frequently be seen on the floor playing with kids, swimming with them in the pool and taking them on carnival rides. He enjoyed time at the family cottage where he played cards, went fishing, swimming, and spent time with his extended family.
Steve was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and going hunting at his Uncle Kenny’s. He was proud to be able to pass the tradition on to his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed taking the grandchildren to collect maple sap and make syrup.
Steve is survived by his wife Diane; his daughter Heidi Borchardt, Rothschild, WI; his son Daniel (Rachel) Borchardt, Stoughton, WI; grandchildren Haley Cveykus (Jordan Klatt), and Hayden, Alaina, Clayton, Ruby, and Harper Borchardt; and great granddaughter Embree Klatt. He is further survived by his siblings Jeff (Linda) Borchardt, Alan (Tracy) Borchardt, Jerry (Wendy) Borchardt, Mike Borchardt, and Lynn Borchardt; father-in-law Marvin Fandrey; siblings-in-law Lynette (Steve) Thompson, Mark (Darlene) Fandrey, Lori Fandrey, and Scott (Amy) Fandrey; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his mother-in-law Evelyn Fandrey.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Peace United Church of Christ, Schofield. Rev. Gloria Van Houten will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. The family requests that face masks be worn during visitation and services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Peace United Church of Christ in Schofield, WI, or to the ALS Association of Wisconsin. Both have been amazing support systems through this difficult diagnosis.

Irene R. Landowski
Irene R. Landowski 95, Wausau passed peacefully into God’s loving arms January 29, 2022, at Aspirus Hospice House with family by her side. Our Lord must have rejoiced after loaning her to us for so many years!
Irene was born on July 30, 1926, in Rosholt, Wisconsin and was the 9th of 12 children to the late Joseph and Suzanne (Zywicki) Stankowski. On October 23, 1946, Irene was united in marriage to Edmund A. Landowski at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2004.
With a natural ear for music, Irene taught herself to play the guitar, harmonica and keyboard. She loved to sing and harmonize to the old country tunes with her brothers and sisters or listen to the concertina meanderings of talented relatives. Irene was a longtime member of St. Therese Catholic Church and a former member of the choir. Irene loved to bake and cook she was a potato dumpling perfectionist! After raising her children, Irene worked as a cook in the DC Everest School District. Irene enjoyed caring for others; providing care for her mother-in-law and siblings in their time of need or having her great grandchildren over to rock, sing to and care for.
Irene lived a beautiful, simple life that always centered around family. Irene enjoyed playing cards, listening to polka music, watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers play. From the time she turned 80, there were several large birthday parties organized by family to celebrate her life. Irene loved seeing all the family together, meeting and sharing their love and bond in celebration of her. Irene was a spiritual woman praying the rosary and reading her prayer book daily. All that knew Irene were amazed by her remarkable memory. Irene loved to reminisce and share stories of the past with anyone who lent an ear. In recent years, the phone became her lifeline. Receiving phone calls from family substituted for visits and kept her informed of family lives. She never lost touch. Irene will be deeply missed. Her love, extreme patience, quick wit, and teachings will be with all of us forever.
Survivors include her children Janice (Peter, deceased) Yianibas, Illinois, Joseph (Rushnee) Landowski, Wausau, Mary Sikonia, Minnesota. Five grandchildren, David (Jessica) Van Vuren, Ringle, Nick (Carly) Yianibas, Illinois, Theresea Sikonia, Elizabeth Sikonia, all of Wausau, and Brandon Landowski, New York. Eight great grandchildren, Cayden and Kallie Yianibas, Ethan, Owen and Ashlyn Van Vuren, Alejandro, Emiliano and Diego Cruz and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Irene was preceded in death by one son, Mark, one great-grandson, Mark David and her sisters Caroline Clarkowski, Lorraine Jozwiak, Regina Groshek, Esther Brzezinski, Alice Gorski, Sadie Burclaw and brothers, Hubert, Felix, Louis, Clarence and Tony Stankowski.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. Rev. Joseph Albert presiding. Burial will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Kronenwetter. Family and friends may call on Friday, February 4, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Visitation will also be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service.

Ann H. Ray
Ann Helen Ray, age 75, passed away on January 26, 2022 at River View Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. She was the daughter of the late Edward P. Czaplewski Jr. and Bernice A. Simonis. She was born in Milwaukee, WI on September 22, 1946 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She attended local grade schools and attended high school at Columbus High School.
She was married to Hank Gagas and the couple had five children. The couple later divorced. She was married to the love of her life Darrin Ray on July 18, 2005. She moved to Flint, Michigan until Darrin’s death in 2020 and moved back to Wisconsin.
Ann worked on the family dairy farm in Custer and later worked at McCain’s food. Some of her favorite past times were spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed bird watching, rose gardening, reading, and going to the casino. She also loved to go fishing, camping, and traveling with Darrin as well as her dog Dusty.
Ann is survived by her loving children, Pauline (Mark) Tautges of Gleason, WI; Mark (Sue) Gagas of Polonia, WI; Matt Gagas of Rosholt, WI; Steve Gagas of Marion, IL; Scott Gagas of Rosholt, Wi; siblings Kathy Rohn of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Gary (Fran) Czaplewski of Stevens Point, WI; Paul Czaplewski of Plover, WI, Nancy (Joe) Peterson of Fenton, DE, Julie (Scott) Zabawa of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; a sister-in-law Lora Ray of Flint, MI; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Darrin, two children Sandy and Joseph, her parents, uncles and aunts, one brother Edward Czaplewski and one brother-in-law Victor Rohn.

Bonnie L. Johnson
Bonnie L. Johnson, 75 of Wisconsin Rapids, passed peacefully at home on January 26, 2022.
Bonnie was born to Vernon and Mary Ann (Rohmeyer) Schara Dec. 9th 1946 in Wisconsin Rapids.
She enjoyed cooking, dancing, trivia and crosswords. Her proudest achievements and happiest moments in her life were her family. They always made her eyes light up with love.
Bonnie is survived by her 6 children Jodi (Troy) Stephens, Kim (Scott) Schooley, Billy (Tammy) Johnson, Dawn Dibb, Heather (Wade) Korntved, Shayne (Candice) Johnson, 34 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Thomas and great grandchild Kaidyn Stephens.

Linda C. Wierzba
Linda Carol Wierzba (Rucinski) of Weston passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2022. She was born on May 25, 1951 to Joan and Joseph Rucinski.
She married the love of her life Dennis Wierzba on August 16, 1969.
She is survived by her loving husband Dennis, her children; Jeffrey (Becky Brodjeski) Wierzba, Tana (Bryon) Burgard and Benjamin (Debbie) Wierzba, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brothers; Robert (Carol) Rucinski, Ronald Rucinski and Randy Rucinski, sister, Bonnie (Ron) Bruski, brother in laws; Walter (Michelle) Wierzba, Patrick (Karen) Wierzba, LeRoy Wierzba and Richard (Cathy) Wierzba; sister in laws, Mary Miller, Margaret Webb, Carla Wierzba and Irene Wierzba.
