Wausau Pilot & Review

The inaugural wiener dog races are set for Saturday at Marathon Park when the Wausau Cyclones take on the Milwaukee Power.

The races, which feature Wausau-area dachshunds, will happen during the intermissions of the game. SC Swiderski is a partner in the effort.

“Our organization is excited to put on such a unique and entertaining event for our fans,” said Zach Serwe, director of business operations. “We think that this event is something that the community will find very enjoyable and something that will become a yearly tradition.”

New Life Pet Adoption Center will receive 100% of the proceeds from chuck-a-puck at the game and will also have a 50/50 raffle that evening. New Life Pet Adoption Center, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit. The center was formed as a no-kill center in 2000 for the purpose of placing more adoptable companion animals into loving and caring homes; educating the public and municipal governments about the overpopulation problem with emphasis on the importance of spaying and neutering and to provide a place of safety and the humane treatment of companion animals while awaiting adoption.
