Wausau Pilot & Review

WAUSAU – Jack Berens had 19 points, and Jaraul Walker had a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Wausau West boys basketball team to a hard-fought 67-65 nonconference win over Appleton West on Tuesday night at Wausau West High School.

West was just 2-for-16 from 3-point range but made up for by going 22-for-38 on 2-point shots and made 17 of 25 free throws to clinch the victory.

Mikail Harmison had four 3-pointers and 17 points to lead Appleton West (2-17).

“Our guys continue to find ways and be resilient,” West coach Nate Lemmens said. “We didn’t play our best, but in the end, we made enough plays and got enough stops. Pretty gutsy win by our guys.”

Wausau West hosts Wisconsin Valley Conference leader Marshfield on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
