WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids jumped out to a double-digit lead by halftime and went on to defeat D.C. Everest 87-58 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls basketball game Tuesday at Lincoln High School.

Rapids led 44-30 at halftime and continued its hot shooting, putting up 43 more points in the second half to earn the victory.

Kiara Hammond had 26 points and Braelyn Beiler added 17 for D.C. Everest, which falls to 8-14 overall and 3-8 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Megan Clary led Wisconsin Rapids (12-8, 9-1 WVC) with 25 points.

D.C. Everest hosts Merrill for its Wisconsin Valley Conference finale on Friday at 7:15 p.m. The Evergreens finish their regular-season schedule with a nonconference game at Wabeno/Laona on Monday. WIAA playoff brackets will be announced Sunday.
