Wausau, WI – With the excitement of Olympic curling heating up as U.S. teams compete for medals, the Wausau Curling Club has announced a Learn to Curl event and a special Olympic 3-Week Beginners Curling League.

Both events will be held at the Wausau Curling Center, 1920 Curling Way, on Wausau’s Southeast side.

The Learn to Curl session will be Saturday, Feb. 26, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Participants will receive basic instruction on the curling game and techniques from instructors from the Curling Club. The 3-Week Beginners League will start Monday evening, Feb. 28, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and will be repeated Monday nights March 7 and March 14, with the possibility of an additional night. New curlers will be able to learn and develop their curling skills in a competitive, league setting.

For both events, participants should bring a pair of gym shoes for the ice and wear layers and comfortable, loose-fitting slacks or trousers.

“Curling is a fun winter sport, with a long history in Wausau,” said Wausau Curling Club president Randy Brandner. “It’s easy to learn and play for all ages.”

The Wausau Curling Center is the largest privately owned curling facility in the United States and features eight sheets of ice, locker room, a large clubroom with bar and kitchen facilities, and a glassed-in temperature-controlled spectator area.
