Police and school officials say a 911 report Wednesday of an explosion at D.C. Everest Senior High School was a hoax.

The 911 call was received at about 9:18 a.m. Wednesday. The Everest Metropolitan Police Department and Marathon County Sheriff’s Office informed D.C. Everest Administration of the claim, and teams responded immediately. An Everest Metro School Resource Officer was working and present at the school when the call was received. 

First responders conducted an extensive search of the building and school grounds and found no evidence of any threat. The identity of the caller has not yet been verified.

All students and faculty are safe at this time, and there is no threat to the public.
