WAUSAU – The Wausau Conservatory of Music will host its annual fundraising gala, The Art of Music, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 5 at the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, 309 McClellan St., Wausau.

The event will feature performances by Conservatory students and faculty with original art by local artists. The Conservatory will honor faculty members Bette Close and Barbara Lattimer for their many years of service to the music community. Close is a former piano teacher at the Conservatory who retired recently after 35 years of service. Lattimer is celebrating 41 years of teaching at the Conservatory.

The event will also feature a silent auction and raffle to raise money for the organization’s tuition assistance program. The silent auction also will be available online prior to the event. Local restaurants will provide heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be open during the event. Cocktail dress is encouraged.

The Conservatory hopes to raise $26,000 at the event to benefit the tuition assistance program at the Conservatory. Each year the Conservatory provides more than $40,000 in tuition assistance and community-facing programs.

Tickets for the event are $65 and advance purchase is required. Attendance is limited to those 21 years and older. Tickets are available online at wausauconservatory.org. For more information, call 715-845-6279.
