WAUSAU – The Center for the Visual Arts in downtown Wausau recently opened two new exhibits.

“Northern Perspectives” is on display in the Caroline S. Marks Gallery and “Explorations & Antiquity” in the Vault Gallery. These shows are on display through April 29.

“Northern Perspectives” features works by oil paint artist Mark Literski. These paintings take ordinary views and, with common tools, highlight the extraordinary in the subjects. Living and working in the northern Midwest,
Literski paintings have a sense of familiarity, like a place you pass on your way to work or school every day. Shining light on the beauty of the everyday.

“Explorations & Antiquity” invites patrons to discover the color and texture of painter Ruth Fromstein and ceramicist Megan Sullivan. Sullivan’s pieces work to uncover our society’s relationship with history while Fromstein explores a world of color and form that will remind you of a place you once visited in a dream. Together these two artists create an experience worth exploring.

A public reception for these exhibits will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 8 at 427 N. Fourth St.
