STEVENS POINT – Cornerstone Press, the student-staffed teaching press at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, will hold an online launch of its newest releases, a work of fiction and a poetry collection.

“Evangelina Everyday” by Indiana author Dawn Burns, and “After the 8-Ball” by Michigan poet Colleen Alles, will be released at 6 p.m. March 16 via a Zoom webinar.

A link to the webinar will be sent via email to attendees who sign up through a Google Form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdz0N80KuKv7Rhl18h4gj62fc_nqsZupBvExjfHJkniumg74Q/viewform?usp=sf_link). The event will feature a question-and-answer session with the authors and a round table discussion of their collections.

Evangelina Everyday is a part of Cornerstone Press’s Legacy Series in short fiction, and “After the 8-Ball” is part of the Portage Poetry Series. Both titles are currently available for pre-order at www.uwsp.edu/cornerstone and will also be available for pre-order during the launch on March 16. “’Evangelina Everyday’ is a powerful story about the inner anxieties of a woman finally discovering herself and her self-worth after years of shutting even herself out,” last semester’s editorial director Kala Buttke said. “I was very happy to work closely with Burns through the whole editorial process.”

With several new titles being released each semester, students gain industry experience working with writers from all over the United States.

“’After the 8-Ball’ was the first project I worked on upon joining the press, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience,” current editorial director Grace Dahl said. “Colleen’s manuscript was beautiful to read, and I enjoyed working on poetry in a new perspective. I hope others enjoy her work as much as I do!”
