Edward L. Stubbe
Edward Lee Stubbe passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022.
He was born in Wausau on November 27, 1928, to Edward and Ella (Reismann) Stubbe. On May 14, 1955, he married Marge Mroczenski of Edgar at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Wausau.
Edward graduated from Trinity Lutheran School in 1943, and Wausau High School in 1947. He served his country during the Korean Conflict and was a proud recipient of a Purple Heart and Bronze Medal. He retired from his employment at the Wausau Post Office after 30 years.
He enjoyed a game of golf with his post office buddies and the golfing vacations he took with his wife. He was an avid Brewers, Packers, and Badgers fan. There was always a puzzle on the table somewhere, just because. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Burns Post #388 and was a part of their honor guard.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marge; one son, Jeff (Becky) Stubbe of Wausau; two daughters, Jill Sickler (Ricky Matz) of Ringle, and Jane Sharma of Orlando, FL; five grandchildren, Brad, Michael, Ashley, Jeremy and Nicholas; and three great-grandchildren, Jennings, Emma and Leonardo.
Edward was preceded in death by two sons, Alan J. and John H.A., his parents, siblings, Lucille Streck, Donald, Clayton, and Floyd Stubbe and two grandchildren, Lindsey and Anthony.
Graveside services will be held at a future date at Pine Grove Cemetery where military honors will be conducted, with a celebration of his life to follow the ceremony. Brainard Funeral Home – Wausau Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family would like to thank the staff at Renaissance Assisted Living and Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Weston, for providing Edward a home for many years. Special thank you as well to Aspirus Palliative Care and Aspirus Hospice for their attention to Edward late in his journey.

Katherine Denk
Katherine “Cassie” Denk, after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis, was welcomed into her eternal heavenly home on March 16, 2022.
Cassie was the youngest child of seven born to the late Joseph & Barbara Vesely on April 25, 1942 on a farm outside of Athens, Wisconsin. She spent her childhood and most of her adult life in Athens, attending St. Anthony’s Catholic School and later graduating from Athens High School. On July 18, 1964 she married Eugene Denk of Athens at St. Patricks’s Catholic Church in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. During their life together, Cassie’s love of faith, family & friends was portrayed in her gift of hospitality. She enjoyed life’s simple joys, which included sewing, baking, gardening, flower arranging, singing in the church choir, along with the countless hours of volunteer work for St. Anthony’s parish. For several years, she enjoyed employment as the school secretary there. One of her favorite pastimes was cheering for the home teams, which included the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks, the Wisconsin Badgers, and the Athens Bluejays. She had the sweetest personality, a great sense of humor, and a positive outlook which never seemed to change, even as she took her last breath.
She will be greatly missed by her husband Eugene, daughters Stacey (Randy) Witucki, & Joelle (Jeremy) Heil, grandchildren Robyn (Adam) Foye, Jessica (Kevin) Schaler, Jackson & Will Heil, and great-grandchildren Asher, Amelia, Gracin, and Brody. She is survived by her siblings Mary Ann Stahnke, Elaine Bauer, Eleanor Endres, Robert Vesely, and James Vesely. She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Barbara Vesely and her brother Joseph Vesely, as well as her brothers-in-law Norbert Stahnke, Leonard Bauer, Richard Endres , Bernard Denk and sisters-in-law Nan Vesely, Peggy Vesely, and Mary Denk.
The family would like to thank Clarice Welbes, Cassie’s dedicated personal care giver, Marathon County Aging & Disability Resource Center, Aspirus Visiting Nurses, and Interim Healthcare, including Tim Moe for the care and attention they provided during her time in hospice. We would also like to acknowledge Roseann Keen, her regular hospice nurse who went above and beyond to provide care, comfort and love through the duration of Cassie’s final days. We could never thank Reverend George Graham, Dwight Lenhard and all of our friends and family enough, who took the time to stop and visit, send a card or make a phone call, and lend a helping hand and a smile-it will never be forgotten!
A funeral mass will be celebrated in Cassie’s honor on March 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Athens from 10:00 am, until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider any memorials be designated to St. Anthony Catholic Church/School.
Patrick D. Pritzl
Patrick D. Pritzl, 53, Weston passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at his home while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born on August 11, 1968, in Park Falls, son of the late Donald and Shirley (Meier) Pritzl. On June 20, 1992, he married Aimee LaPointe at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Park Falls.
Patrick was an avid member of his community wherever he lived. As he, his wife and children moved around (Wausau, Rhinelander, Tomahawk and Park Falls) he easily made friends and involved himself in any community or church organization he could. For the camaraderie as much as the fulfillment of helping others. Starting at a young age he was active in sports and was a longtime paper delivery boy. First on his pedal bike and later on his motorcycle. In his Highschool years he was involved with many sports. Especially loving baseball, basketball, football and golf. He was delighted to reminisce with us many times how (as a pitcher for the team) helped take their school’s baseball team to State for the first time in the school’s history. He was awarded the Cy Young Award, his Senior year. He was also awarded a full-ride scholarship to Madison.
After making the move away from home. He chose to attend the UW-Marathon center in Wausau. He met and married Aimee in 1992. They started their journey of work and family. Patrick worked various construction and mill jobs before ending up at UPS. After 31 years of service retired early at the age of 51 in 2019. In the years between, he involved himself with his organizations and especially with The American Legion in Park Falls where he helped create a group that raises funds for the town’s 4th of July fireworks and other civic needs. He also created a Veteran’s Golf Outing that raises funds for the Legion as well.
Patrick spent endless hours helping with his children’s sports events whenever he could, he taught Religious Ed class and was a Eucharistic minister at church and for shut-ins in the couple years after he retired.
When he wasn’t doing those events, he was golfing as often as he could, fishing, camping or simply chopping wood in the backyard for the evening family campfire.
Survivors include his loving wife, Aimee Pritzl, Weston, his children, Elizabeth Pritzl, Wausau, Katie Pritzl and Benjamin Pritzl, both of Weston, his siblings, Lori Smetak, FL, Dennis (Lynn) Pritzl, Kronenwetter, Randy Pritzl, Fifield, Steven (Kris) Pritzl, Park Falls and Russell (Carole) Ciokiewicz, FL, his mother and father-in-law, James and Sharon LaPointe, Tomahawk, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Cory LaPointe, his grandmother-in-law, Marie Riehle, Tomahawk and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Ciokiewicz and his brother-in-law, Gary Smetak.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 6101 Zinser Street, Weston, WI. The Rev. Greg Bohren will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Patrick’s name. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Wausau is in charge of arrangements. Elnora Buechler
Elnora Terhune Buechler passed away on March 16, 2022
Ralph Buechler passed away on March 25, 2017
Ralph and Elnora “found each other” in 1941 when Ralph was an Army Air Corps cadet studying Meteorology at Massachusetts Institution of Technology (MIT). They were married Sept. 4, 1942 at the Unitarian Church in Winchester, Mass. They moved to Wausau in 1952, where Ralph worked for Murray Machinery (aka D.J. Murray) for 31 years.
They are survived by 3 children (Lee, Scott, and Lynne). They had 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. Through the years they lost 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. They had a very fulfilling marriage of 74 years enjoying downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, water skiing (Elnora skiing, Ralph driving the boat),horseback riding, flying (Ralph the pilot, Elnora the passenger). Life was “A Many Splendored Thing” for them.
