Wausau Pilot & Review

A Wausau Police Department veteran with more than 20 years of service to the community was named deputy chief this week.

The Wausau Police and Fire Commission on Monday selected Todd Baeten as deputy chief. He will serve under Chief Matt Barnes, who was chosen to succeed former Chief Ben Bliven. In September, Bliven left the department and law enforcement for a new opportunity.

“Deputy Chief Baeten has served the city for the past 21 years to include roles such as a Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer, DARE Officer, Patrol Lieutenant, Community Resource Unit Lieutenant and most recently as Captain of Patrol,” a WPD Facebook post reads. “Congratulations Deputy Chief Baeten!”
