Wausau Pilot & Review is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit newsroom devoted to hard-hitting journalism that serves the people of central Wisconsin. Wausau Pilot’s reporters pound the pavement to deliver stories on a wide range of topics including education, the economy, transportation, health care, housing, criminal justice, elections, the environment, public safety, and the workplace.

Our mission: Wausau Pilot & Review delivers in-depth reporting and analysis that improves local decision-making. We seek to drive the public conversation, set the agenda on key issues, and empower people through insight, information, and engagement.

Our content: We generate original content that is distributed through our website and social media. We strongly support First Amendment rights and transparency in government and we value and promote the news media’s watchdog role.

The site also includes commentary pieces from the community. Wausau Pilot & Review does not endorse candidates for office or publish unsigned editorials representing an institutional position. We encourage broad-ranging, civil discussion from many points of view.

Our goal is to create a sustainable business model for this kind of journalism, supported by corporate sponsors, advertisers, and members who make annual donations. High-quality journalism is a community asset that sustains democracy and quality of life, and we need people who believe in it to support our work. We are committed to transparency and for ethical reasons do not accept anonymous donations greater than $1,000.

Wausau Pilot & Review will pursue collaborations with college journalism programs, nonprofit news organizations, citizens, and media outlets. The organization is a proud member of the Local Independent Online News (LION) national publishing group, the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN).

Our office is located at 500 N. Third St., Suite 208-8, Wausau. Reach us at 715-843-5549.
