UPDATED, 3:40 P.M. — A suspicious device found in the yard of a Marshfield home is not a bomb, but was filled with fireworks, police said.

Lincoln Avenue has been reopened and residents have been allowed back into their homes.

Police say the device has been rendered safe and will be collected for evidence. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

MARSHFIELD — Members of the Marathon County Bomb Squad are en route to Marshfield to investigate a possible bomb reported on the city’s northwest side.

According to the Marshfield Police Department, a possible bomb is being investigated in a front yard on North Lincoln Avenue. Officers are advising residents to stay away from the area.

Lincoln Avenue is closed north of McMillan Street and South of Shortess Drive, according to the MPD.
