Adam Ament

Adam Lee Ament, 34, of Merrill, died unexpectedly on June 28, 2018.

Adam Ament

Adam was born in Wausau to Perry and Rosemarie (Goetsch) Ament on Dec. 28, 1983. He attended Everest Middle School and Wausau West High School. He was a talented artist, a computer whiz who could tear apart a computer and put it back together again, and a techie who loved X-Box and video games. Adam loved fixing and working on cars — something he learned to do with his dad. He especially loved his family and adored his two daughters, Emma and Luna.

Survivors include parents Perry and Rosemarie Ament; daughters Emma and Luna; grandparents Jeanette Goetsch, David Goetsch, and Ardene Ament; and great-grandmother Leona Mayer. He is preceded in death by uncle Chuck Goetsch and grandpa LeRoy Ament.

A visitation will be held Thursday, July 5, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau.


Eugene Abitz

Eugene M. Abitz, 67, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital surrounded by many of his beloved family members.

Eugene was born Jan. 7, 1951, to the late Martin and Isla (Smart) Abitz. He was currently a resident of Wausau Manor, which has been home for the past year. He made many friends there. Formerly he resided in the Gleason, Mosinee and Wausau areas. Growing up in Rib Mountain, he attended grade school there and was a graduate of Wausau High School. He had previously been employed by North Central Tool & Machine of Wausau.

Eugene enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He liked working on cars and was quite gifted at fixing electronic gadgets. He was a big man with a generous heart, always willing to help how he could.

Survivors include three sisters, Virginia Bucknell, Mae (Delos) Winter, and Ramona Knight; a brother Arnold (Connie) Abitz; sister-in-law, Kathleen Abitz, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Although we will miss Eugene dearly, we are sure he is having a joyous reunion with his parents, brother Milt, sisters, Helen Ryan and Florence (Dave) Weiler and brother-in-law, Edwin Bucknell, all who preceded him in death.

The family would like to thank the staff of Aspirus Cardiac ICU for the great care given to Eugene.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Don Bleier

Don A. Bleier, 67, Wausau passed away on June 28, 2018, at Mount View Care Center in Wausau. He was born to the late William and Verna (Habeck) Bleier on May 29, 1951. After graduation he entered the United States Army; he served proudly from 1969 to 1972 during the Vietnam War.

He returned home to marry the love of his life Debbie (Strykowski) on Oct. 6, 1973. Together they celebrated 44 years. He loved going fishing, hunting, wood cutting and tinkering out in the shed or outside, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Debbie, daughter Mindy (Mat) Bielen, siblings, Barbara (Darrow) Moore, Pat (Alan) Woznicki, Jerry (Dorathy) Bleier, Randy (Linda) Bleier, Sandy (John ) Krause, Bob (Ginney) Bleier, Rick (Kelly) Bleier and Debbie Pinsonneault, one sister-in-law Sue Strykowski.

He is preceded in death by his parents William and Verna and brother-in-law John Strykowski.

A private family celebration will be held at a later date.

Irene Easker

Irene D. Easker, 96, of Weston passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at North Central Health Care Facilities, Wausau.

She was born on Aug. 27, 1921, in Bevent, the daughter of the late Frank and Julia (Stanke) Gavinski. She married Chester Easker in 1939 at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Bevent. They shared 46 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1985.

Irene worked at Marathon Electric for many years, and then worked as a cook, preparing meals for the students of St. Therese Catholic School. She later worked as a server at Colonial Ballroom.

Family was most important to Irene, and she cherished her role as a grandmother. She enjoyed baking, dancing and listening to polka music and playing cards. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.

Survivors include her two daughters, MaryAnn Budnik of Weston, and Elaine (Martin) King of Ringle; son-in-law, Chuck Haebig of Wausau; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Irene Kudronowicz of Weston, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Easker of Weston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chester, two daughters, Elizabeth McKenna and Ellen Haebig, and all 11 of her siblings.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at St. Therese Parish, Rothschild. The Rev. Greg Bohren will officiate. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.

The family would like to thank the staff of North Central Health Care for treating Irene like an angel during her final years.
