WAUSAU – Students completing the emergency medical technician program at Northcentral Technical College raised $400 through a T-shirt sale recently for the family of a fallen firefighter in Appleton.

Mitch Lundgaard, a 14-year veteran of the Appleton Fire Department, was killed in a gun battle that erupted as he and other paramedics responded to a medical emergency at the Appleton downtown transit center.

“The students were both shocked and saddened to hear that something so senseless had happened to (Lundgaard),” said Jackie Wagner, NTC instructor.

Although the shirt sale ended in July, there is a GoFundMe donation page online to benefit the Lundgaard family. If you would like to contribute, visit gofundme.com/f/afd-mitch-lundgaard-family-fund
