A 34-year-old woman is hospitalized after her throat was cut by a passenger in her vehicle during a struggle Tuesday on Hwy. 45, police said.
The woman’s 4-year-old daughter was also a passenger in the vehicle but was taken to safety by a passerby, police said.
Shawano County Sheriff’s officials say a 31-year-old Hortonville man is in custody in connection with the attack. His name has not been released and police have not specified his relationship to the alleged victim.
Police received a call at about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday reporting the attack. Officials say the woman was driving the vehicle, stopped on the side of the roadway and a struggle ensued. That’s when the man allegedly cut the woman’s throat with a knife.
The woman was transported to a medical facility for treatment. Her current condition has not been released.
The suspect remains in custody as of Wednesday morning as police continue their investigation. Additional details are expected to be released later in the day.
