Wausau Pilot & Review

WAUSAU – Wausau East smacked 17 hits and rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat rival Wausau West 6-5 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball game Thursday at East High School.

West led 4-1 after 3½ innings before East tied the game with a three-run fourth. After West scored a run in the fifth, the Lumberjacks forged ahead in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double by Ryan Rodemeier and a run-scoring single from Caden Werth.

Davis Winter had two hits and earned the pitching win for Wausau East (1-1 overall and WVC), striking out three in two innings.

Travis Klade had three hits and two RBI for West (1-2, 1-1 WVC).

Iain Stahel, Rodemeier and Zach Pagel each had three hits for Wausau East.

Wausau West will play a nonconference game at Menomonie on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Wausau East will also be back in action Friday, hosting Stratford for a nonconference game starting at 5 p.m.
