Wausau Pilot & Review

WAUSAU – The Wausau East boys tennis team opened its Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet schedule with a 5-2 loss to Stevens Point on Thursday at East High School.

The Lumberjacks picked up a pair of singles wins as No. 1 player Teddy Schlindwein defeated Mitchell Thielman 6-1, 6-7 (5), 7-5, and No. 4 player Julio Florres won over Reid Neuman 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.

Stevens Point won matches at No. 2 singles and No. 3 doubles in three sets to eke out the victory.

Wausau East will compete at a six-team tournament at Wausau West on Saturday.
