WAUSAU – D.C. Everest blew open a tight game with a six-run seventh inning and defeated Wausau East 7-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball contest Tuesday at East High School.

D.C. Everest (4-2, 1-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference) led 1-0 after an RBI single by Nate Langbehn in the third inning.

The score held until the seventh when the Evergreens’ offense exploded. Van Slyke started the rally with an RBI single, one of just two hits in the inning. Three walks and two errors helped D.C. Everest to pull away.

Wausau East (2-2, 1-2 WVC) scored twice in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by R.J. Stroming and a run-scoring double by Iain Stahel, but that would be it.

The two teams will play again Thursday at D.C. Everest.
