WAUSAU – Merrill scored eight runs over the final four innings to pull away and defeat Wausau 13-5 in an American Legion baseball game Thursday night at Athletic Park.

Merrill (4-5, 2-4 Wisconsin Valley Legion Conference) scored five times in the second inning, only to see Wausau close to within a run with a four-run third, keyed by a three-run homer from Dylan Dobratz.

From there, it was all Merrill as it scored in every inning from the fourth inning on to break the game open.

Jesse Osness and Caden Werth each had two hits for Wausau (6-5, 1-4 WVLC).

Cooper Wendorf was 4-for-5, Connor Cortright had a home run and four RBI, and Sam Reimann drove in three runs for Merrill.

Wausau will compete at the Chippewa Falls Tournament this weekend. The Bulldogs will play Eau Claire on Friday at 3 p.m., Chippewa Falls on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and two games on Sunday.
