TOWN OF RIETBROCK — The driver killed after two semis collided early Thursday has been identified as Gary T. Demotts of Chippewa Falls, according to a Marathon County Sheriff’s Department release.

The crash, which happened in the westbound lane between Hwy. H and Cardinal Road, was reported Thursday at about 6 a.m., police said.

The crash investigation report, obtained Friday by Wausau Pilot & Review, shows a semi tractor trailer driven by Demotts was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 29 when Demotts lost control, crossed over the median and struck a westbound semi head on. Demotts was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, police said. Demott’s vehicle is registered to J&D Transport of Bloomer, Wis., according to the report.

The westbound vehicle, driven by Faysal Ali Nour of Saint Paul, Minn., and registered to Bashka Express in Eagan, Minn,, overturned before catching fire, the report stated. Nour was injured in the crash and was taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to the report.

No drug or alcohol use is suspected in the crash, which remains under investigation.
