City officials will hold a public meeting to discuss proposed improvements to First Avenue, according to a city news release.
The planned improvements stretch from Thomas Street to Stewart Avenue.
The meeting, planned for 5:30 p.m. on July 19, includes a brief presentation and overview of the project, a formal question and answer session and informal individual discussions with attendees. The meeting will be held in the council chambers at Wausau City Hall.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide not only a summary of proposed improvements but also anticipated impacts to traffic during construction. Some short-term closures of private entrances along the street will be required during some operations, most lasting between two and three days, officials said.
Exhibits of the proposed improvements will be on display and representatives from the City and from Ayres Associates will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.
The project is expected to have an impact on Riverside Park, which is located along the east side of the project including embankment stabilization between West Street and Porter Street. The park is expected to remain open during construction, but areas adjacent to the roadway will be closed for roadway construction.
