TOWN OF BIRCH — Two people are hospitalized in intensive care following a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Lincoln County, according to a news release.

The crash was reported at 9:30 a.m. July 15 and happened in the southbound lane of Hwy. 51, just south of Nelson Avenue, police said. The vehicle appears to have left the roadway before striking several trees and a drainage ditch, according to the release.

The driver of the vehicle, Lyle Ahles, and one passenger, Rosalia Ahles, both of Prairie du Chien, were injured and were transported first to Ministry Good Samaritan Hospital in Merrill before they were transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, police said.

Both occupants, who wore seatbelts at the time of the crash, were in stable condition as of Sunday morning.

No drug or alcohol use is suspected.
