RHINELANDER — A 21-year-old Rhinelander woman is facing criminal charges after the 1-year-old child she was babysitting tested positive for marijuana, according to court records.
Anika Wildcat-Chapman faces a felony charge of child neglect resulting in bodily harm in Oneida County Circuit Court. Wildcat-Chapman appeared in court Tuesday and was released on a $1,000 cash bond.
An investigation launched Aug. 5 after the child was taken to the hospital by a parent who noticed that the child seemed lethargic. The child was flown to Marshfield Medical Center for treatment, where blood tests revealed the presence of marijuana in the child’s blood, according to the complaint.
Investigators believe the child ate part of a cookie containing marijuana while Wildcat-Chapman was babysitting.
Wildcat-Chapman was previously convicted in March for marijuana possession, court records show. Future court dates have not yet been set.
