WAUSAU — A 39-year-old Wausau man convicted of secretly filming women and children will spend more than three years in prison, according to Marathon County Circuit Court records.

Ryan Rouse was sentenced Monday to 4 1/2 years in prison but received credit for 483 days spent behind bars while awaiting trial, court records show. He will also spend 6 1/2 years on extended supervision following his release. Rouse was convicted in May after pleading guilty to charges of possession of child pornography, invasion of privacy, capturing an image of nudity without consent and capturing an intimate representation. Eight other charges, including possession of methamphetamine, were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Police searched Rouse’s home in 2016 and seized a number of videos, including several “upskirting” videos taken from beneath the bleachers at the YMCA, according to court records. One video depicted a woman taking a shower in Rouse’s home, police said.

Rouse also secretly filmed a 13-year-old girl who was trying on a dress in the bedroom of his home, police said. The girl had come to the home to borrow a dress for her confirmation.

As part of his sentence Marathon County Circuit Judge Greg Huber also ordered Rouse to undergo sex offender treatment and send letters of apology to each of his victims.
