Robb Ray Wruck
Robb Ray Wruck, 42, of Rib Mountain, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 23, 2017.

Michael “Mike” James Koplitz
With heavy hearts, we are saddened by the unexpected passing of Mike on November 10, 2017 in California.
Born September 12, 1961 to James and Sharon (Janz) Koplitz. He married his High School sweetheart Laura (Przybylski) Koplitz on August 29, 1987 and celebrated their 30th Anniversary last summer. He will be dearly missed by his little buddy “Teddy”, who sat on his stool waiting excitedly for his papa to come home. Teddy enjoyed singing to his papa on the phone and at home while his Hallmark and other stuffed toys played music.
There were many things throughout his life that he held dear to him and enjoyed doing. He made it a point when on the road to call Laura every day to make sure she was alright, and she and Teddy were safe. She, in return, would make him his favorite home cooked meal and have it waiting for him when he came home off the road. They enjoyed farming together on their beef farm, and in earlier years, shared a deer farm with many magnificent bucks. It was their plan for Mike to retire next spring after 31 years at Kolbe & Kolbe to start building their retirement home in Tripoli.
In his younger years Mike enjoyed spending time with his Grandpa (Buster Janz) just hanging out. He liked riding and racing motocross dirt bikes, restoring his Ford Mustang by himself, and building his log cabin with his brother, Brian. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and hunting trips out West with friends, and at their cabin for the last 35 years. In these past years, he just liked coming up North spending time at their farm and the cabin to hang out with family and friends. He also took pride in, and enjoyed his special time when grandpa Earl Koplitz came to live with them and worked with him, side by side, teaching him how to farm.
We will all miss him dearly and will never forget his infectious smile that lit up his whole face.
He is survived by his wife, Laura; mother and father, Jim and Sharon Koplitz; brother, Brian Koplitz; niece, Amanda (Jeff) Sarauer; aunt, Donna Janz, aunt, Mary Ann Przybylski; father in-law, Roman Przybylski; sister in-law, Susan Riedel; brother in-law, Ken Kersten; sister in-law, Sandy (Gary) Kozlowski; and brother in-law, Mike (Kari) Przybylski; nephews, Richie, Eric, Joe and Kenny Kersten, Travis and Tyler Kozlowski, Aaron and Ryan Larson; nieces, Tanner, Victoria, Makenna and Sammi Przybylski; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews throughout the family.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Stevie Koplitz; sister, Shelly (Koplitz) Bonnel; and brother in-law, James Bonnel; grandparents, Buster and Shirley Janz and Earl and Stella Koplitz; mother in-law, Carol Przybylski.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held Saturday, December 2nd at 11:00 am at Brainard Funeral Home – Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston. A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service.
Melvin A. Gruening
Melvin (Arnold) Gruening, 88 of Rothschild, passed away peacefully at his home on November 20, 2017.
Mel was born December 15, 1928 in the city of Schofield, WI; one of five brothers born to Art and Stella Gruening. He grew up learning the value of hard work and frugality, traits which served him admirably his entire life. Mel attended Wausau East High School, graduating in 1947. He joined the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was a radio teletype operator in Cheyenne, WY in 1949. He was also stationed in Newfoundland and Bermuda. He was honorably discharged as a Sargent.
He married Carol Gruening in 1953 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schofield. They were married for 24 years. While Mel was married to Carol, they had a foster home for eight teenage girls for 10 years. In 1982, Mel married Cherol (Reetz) Schumacher. They were married at St. Peter’s and enjoyed 18 years together until Cherol passed away in 1998. In 1999, he married Beverly Ahrensdorf. They were also married at St. Peter’s. Mel often joked about having married three women – all at St. Peter’s by three different ministers.
Mel worked for Ligno Tech for 43 years in the chemical plant and in the office in Rothschild. He retired when he turned 65.
Mel and Bev enjoyed their summer home in Lake Tomahawk for many years. They truly enjoyed their good friends in the park and always had good times playing cribbage with them.
After retirement, Mel’s service in the Air Force was recently recognized when he participated in the Never Forgotten Honor Flight in October of 2012. Mel was never one to sit idle. He was always engaged in some activity or another whether it was hunting with his sons, summer fishing, ice fishing, and most of all golfing. In Mel’s younger days, he was a caddy at the Wausau Country Club and then joined the Club and was a member for 43 years – getting several holes in one. Mel always enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers, and the Wisconsin Badgers.
He always had a beautiful vegetable garden – full of tomatoes from which he would make his own special salsa. He truly had a green thumb with outside flowers and many house plants. Mel was very active in his church – serving as a janitor in the school and church, singing in the Senior Choir for 35 years and Men’s Club for 15 years. He was also a volunteer at St. Clare’s Hospital for three years.
Mel will be greatly missed by many. He shared his wisdom and knowledge in an unassuming way. He was friendly, humble, out-going and a great conversationalist. His presence filled the room. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a gracious host. If you were a guest of his, you always had a drink in your hand and food on your plate. He was an abundantly generous man.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Rothschild; daughter, Cynthia Hubert, Waukesha; two sons, Bruce (Kyle), Lake Tomahawk; Timothy of Harshaw; step-daughter, Reneé (John Mijal) Gajewski, Weston; step-son, Todd (Melissa) Ahrensdorf, Lake Tomahawk; step-daughter, Christine (Terry) Roberts, Cibolo, TX; three brothers, Robert (Darlene), Donald (Carol), and Kenneth (Joan). Mel is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Donald (Jan) and Kenneth (Betty) Baltz; sisters-in-law, Vernelle Carazalla, Carol Gruening, and Henrietta Baltz.
Mel is also survived by six grandchildren, Bryan Schulta; Kayci (Tyler) Stevenson; Alyssa, Travis, and Lucas Gajewski; and Ashlyn Roberts. He is further survived by one great-grandchild, Hatti Lou Stevenson.
Mel was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Marvin, wife Cherol, brothers-in-law Robert (Mary) Balz, Duane Baltz, sister-in-law Lorraine, and his step-son, Ty Schumacher.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 27 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1351 Grand Ave, Schofield, WI. Pastor Walter Davidson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 26 and again on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services; all at the church. Private Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Mel’s name to St. Peter Lutheran Church or to the Never Forgotten Honor Flight.

Bill McLay
The time and life of Bill McLay. A wonderful man, who lived a full life. William (Bill) Keith McLay died November 14, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born January 9th, 1934 in Sudbury Ontario. His beloved birth country of Canada always held a special place in his heart. His parents were Murdock and Grace McLay.
He attended high school in High Falls Ontario. Early on in his high school career, Bill became known for his finely tuned hockey skills. The skills exhibited by the young forward quickly caught the eye of the Detroit Red Wings organization. Upon graduation, Bill was drafted by the Red Wings. After playing for them two years, Bill made the decision to continue his education and accepted a hockey scholarship at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. He played for Michigan Tech from 1954 to 1958, and still holds a prominent place in Huskies hockey history, as is evidenced when you visit the University even today.
At Michigan Tech Bill received two engineering degrees and, moving to Toronto, started his career with Gardiner Denver. In 1968, he then parlayed his engineering degrees and work experience into the position of Sales Manager for the young Greenheck Fan Company in Schofield, Wisconsin.
Bill lived and breathed Greenheck, setting up sales offices and successful reps across the United States and throughout the world in his career. Many of those reps have kept in touch with Bill since his retirement in 1999. He treasured their friendship, and the strong friendship that grew from his working relationship with Bernie Greenheck, founder and co-owner of the company. Working in tandem with Bill, and his brother and partner Bob Greenheck, they grew the company into the worldwide heating and air-conditioning leader it is today. Bill was well liked and respected by all of his coworkers at Greenheck. It was family. Bill was an integral part of Greenheck’s growth.
In 1975, he married the love of his life, Nancy. They have been married 42 blessed years. Those years have been full of love and laughter, holding their family and good friends close.
Not to have known Bill was to have missed out on a wonderful experience. His sense of humor, outgoing personality, charismatic nature, and kind and generous personality made him just plain fun to be around. Bill was known for his gentle soul, his caring heart, and his infectious smile.
Living at the base of the ski hill in Rib Mountain, just outside of Wausau, Bill was an accomplished skier, an avid golfer and a long-time member of the Wausau Country Club. He loved curling, playing in many bonspiels over the years. His wife was his partner in sports, as well as in life. Bill loved the time spent at their cabin on Tug Lake, and when he retired the couple enjoyed traveling around the world. Bill was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wausau, the Wausau Curling Club, the Chamber of Commerce, and the United Way.
Bill is survived by his wife Nancy, son Keith (Gail) McLay, daughter Danielle (Pete) Phillips, Gary (Deanna) Mossak, Steve Mossak, and Lori (David) Zimmerman. Also by four grandchildren, Dana, Trista, Nick, and Joe; seven great grandchildren, Isiah, Coral, Reese, Jayden, Ila, Leah, and Sydney. Bill is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Marilyn and Helen, and brother Ian.
In the last years of his life, Bill suffered from Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia. At the time of his death, he was under the care of the Azura Memory Care Center, Rib Mountain. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Azura’s caring and compassionate staff.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 29 at the First Presbyterian Church, 406 Grant Street, Wausau, WI. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be given to the Boys & Girls Club, or to the Salvation Army.

Phyllis Abitz
Phyllis Louise Abitz, 97, Wausau, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Rennes Health and Rehab Center, Weston.
Phyllis was born in the town of Easton on February 13, 1920 to Elizabeth (Kufahl) and Philip Hollinger. She attended St. John’s Lutheran School and later moved to Chicago, IL as a nanny. She later moved back to Wausau and worked at several factories. On May 30, 1947 Phyllis married Wallace J. Abitz at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau on the original Memorial Day. She continued working until she retired from Crestline/SNE. Phyllis returned back to work, part-time, until her early 70s.
Phyllis was an excellent baker and won several awards for her baking talent. She was always being asked to make her famous chocolate chip cookies for her children, grandchildren, and friends. She has won several 1st place trophies for her bowling. Phyllis was a lifetime member with the VFW, DAV and the VBOB Women Auxiliary. Since 1947, she has been a member of Wesley United Methodist church. Phyllis was an avid card player and playing games with family, grandchildren and friends, as well as going gambling with husband, Wally and daughter, Sherry. Another one of her favorite pastimes was going fishing. She was always up for a good laugh, especially stories from her grandchildren.
She has had the opportunity to travel to almost every state in the United States. At an early age Phyllis met President Woodrow Wilson at Marathon Park. For her 90th birthday, she received several letters from Presidents and state representatives. She enjoyed attending sport events for all of her children and grandchildren. She was an avid NASCAR enthusiast and later in life enjoyed a good golf tournament on TV. One thing on her bucket list was going to see Elvis in Madison.
Survivors include three children; Connie (Martin) Yauck-Myers, Charles (Jean) Abitz, and Sherry Abitz (friend William Mehlberg), seven grandchildren; Wade Abitz, Amy (Wade) Abitz- Akey, Andy (Breanna) Abitz, Jennifer (Nic) Yauck-Silvester, Jonathon (Sara) Yauck, Charles Leigh Abitz II, and Heather (Josh) Abitz-Baranowski, ten great grandchildren; Lillian, Nicholas and William Silvester, Aidan Abitz, Tyler and Addison Yauck, Eli and Mabel Akey, and Natalie and Mackenzie Baranowski; three step great grandchildren; Landon, Nya, Tyrus and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and Philip Hollinger, husband, Wallace, son, Wesley, sisters, Esther Hollinger and Eva Meilahn, and son-in-law Steven Yauck.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau. Chaplain Jeff Martinson will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

Charlotte Mae (Grebe) Richetto
Charlotte Mae (Grebe) Richetto, age 86, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on November 21, 2017. She was born on November 22, 1930 in Wausau WI to Art and Esther Grebe. She graduated from Wausau High School in 1948. She married Emil Richetto on June 20, 1953.
Charlotte and Emil had three children. These include Mark (June) Richetto (Wausau), Renee Richetto Grul (The Villages, Florida), and Steve (Suzi) Richetto (Wausau). She had seven grandchildren. These include Emily (Joshua) Smith, Jessica (Jonathan) Stone, Jonathan Richetto, David Richetto, Garrett Richetto, Sydney RIchetto, and Olivia Richetto. She is also survived by her brother and lifelong business partner, Roger (Grace) Grebe. She was preceded in death by her husband Emil in 1982 and also by her parents, Art and Esther Grebe.
Charlotte (Nana’s) life revolved around her faith, her family, and her work. She loved and served her Lord and others. She loved, supported, and prayed for her children and grandchildren by name on a daily basis. She began her work at Grebe’s on the day that her father opened the business on August 8, 1946, and worked six days each week as office manager for the next 68 years!
Mom was especially grateful to her daughter Renee for many hours of unconditional care and compassion during the last three months. The family is grateful for close family friend Renee (Jack) DeHaven who lovingly cared for Nana during the last 18 months. We also appreciate Nana’s “adopted” family, Tsegaye and Tesfa Shiferaw and their children for their love and dedication. Thanks also to the Bible Truth Chapel church family who supported Nana with their prayers and visits. Finally, the family would like to thank Mountain Terrace, Benedictine Manor, Wausau Manor, and the Aspirus Hospice House for their excellent care of Nana during the last 4 months of her life.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Bible Truth Chapel, 1600 N. 1st Ave., Wausau. Violet Thatcher
Violet Thatcher, 83, Hatley, died Saturday November 18, 2017 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston.
She was born August 12, 1934 in Milladore, daughter of the late Edward and Rose (Unertl) Rickl. On November 9, 1953, she married Harold L. Thatcher at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Blenker. He preceded her in death July 29, 2005.
Violet was born and raised on a dairy farm in Milladore, and through the years worked as a waitress, cleaning houses and also for Connor Forest Industries. Among her favorite pastimes were sewing, knitting and crocheting.
Survivors include her children, Richard (Barb) Thatcher, Mosinee, Marie (Bob) Blasey, Princeton, Minn., Mark (Celeste) Thatcher, Hatley, David (Johnny) Thatcher, Stoughton, Geraldine (Mike) Davis, Rosewell, Georgia, Charles (Lorrie) Thatcher, Hatley, Kathleen (Russell) Anderson, Hixton, Rebecca (Carl) Tollefson, Langdon, North Dakota, 18 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Gary Stefoneck, three sisters, Irene, Bernice & Rita and two brothers, Sylvon and Clarence.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 2, 2017 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Weston. Rev. Greg Bohren will preside. Burial will be in St. Kilian Cemetery, Blenker. Visitation will be on Saturday December 2, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

It is with sadness that we share the news of the passing of our Pastor Emeritus, Reverend Vernon Dolde. He was a faithful servant and beloved pastor, father, grandfather, teacher, and friend.
Reverend Vernon G. Dolde, 89, went home to his Lord on November 21, 2017. He was born in Cedar Hill, Missouri on August 29, 1928 to Gottlob and Anna Dolde. He married Ruth VanderWallScheel on Aug 29, 1982.
Reverend Dolde graduated from Herculaneum High School, Drury University, and received his Masters of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO. He began his ministry in June of 1952 serving as the Licensed Pastor at St. Stephens United Church of Christ in Merrill, WI. Reverend Dolde was ordained in June of 1954. He accepted his first call on July 1, 1954 serving St. Paul’s Church in Old Monroe, MO. While in Old Monroe, he also served as a volunteer chaplain at the Lincoln County Hospital.
On Sept., 1956 he was called to serve Peace United Church of Christ in Schofield, WI. Under his leadership, Peace UCC built a new parsonage and educational building. During his tenure, he also served as Vice-Moderator and Moderator of the Northwest Association, served on the Wisconsin Conference Board of Directors, and on numerous committees in the Northwest Association and Wisconsin Conference. While in Schofield, he served on the City of Schofield Police and Fire Commission, and a term on the City Council. He also was a school bus driver in the Everest area.
In October of 1982, he was called to serve First United Church of Christ in Reeseville, WI. He was elected to the Dodgeland Board of Education, and served as Clerk of the Board and President for 5 years. In 1991, he was named by the Wisconsin State Journal as one of 10 people making a difference in their community for bringing about a trusting relationship between the board and teachers.
On August 4, 1994, Reverend Dolde was called as the Visitation Minister at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Wausau, WI. In that setting, he served as President of the Wausau Ministerial Association for many years. He was an original member of the weekly TV program in Wausau called “The Church Speak.” After his retirement in 2009, he was named Pastor Emeritus at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. He celebrated his 60th year of Ordination in 2014.
He was a life-long member of Lions Club International where he served the members of the community in need. His service in the Lions Club was a particular focus of his ministry to the community – he held many high honors in his service with the Lions and was active in the Rothschild-Schofield-Weston, the Reeseville-Lowell, and the Rothschild-Weston Clubs.
Vernon enjoyed duck hunting with his close friends and sharing the bounty of his hunt. In his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and crafting with Ruth – many of their beautiful creations adorn the homes of their children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards.
Reverend Dolde is survived by his children: Noel Dolde of Neenah, Ruth Ann (Scott) Schwartz of Milwaukee, Brent (Lori) Dolde of Schofield, Monty (Renee) Scheel of Weston, Karen (Duane) Adamski of Fox Lake, IL, Margaret Rudolph and her mother Cece Rudolph of Portage and Hatley; his grandchildren: Margaret-Noël, John, and Niccole Dolde, Samantha Schwartz, Clint, Calli, and Chloe Scheel, and Annie Adamski.
He has gone to join his parents, his wife, and his brothers and sister, Joseph Dolde, Harold Dolde, Karl Dolde, Rev. Walter Dolde, and Helen Reich, and his granddaughter April Adamski at the table of the Lord. The family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Manor for their care and compassion during the last years of his life.
A celebration of life for Reverend Dolde will be held on Tues. Nov. 28 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 426 Washington St., Wausau, WI. Visitation will be Monday Nov. 27th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at St. Paul’s and again on Tuesday Nov. 28th from 11:00 AM until services. Burial will be at Mosinee Cemetery in Mosinee, WI. Services will be led by Senior Pastor, Reverend Phillip Schneider in collaboration with Associate Conference Minister for the Northwest Association, Reverend Rob MacDougall and Pastor Mary Jo Laabs.
Reverend Dolde once described someone’s passing as “Joining the Church Triumphant.” We ask your prayers for his family, friends, and parishioners as Reverend Dolde is now rejoicing his membership in the Church Triumphant.

Daniel Sitko, 72, of Mosinee, passed away peacefully at his home on November 20, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
He was born to Joseph and Anna Sitko on May 16, 1945. He married Pamela (Okrzesik) on August 14, 1971. He is survived by his loving wife Pamela, daughters; Julie Sitko-Ganser (Andrew), Jamie (Jeremy) Dahl, four grandchildren; Derryck Gee, Danyelle (Jared) Baumann, Brittany Ganser, Danielle Ganser, one great-grandchild Maverick Baumann, one brother Lawrence Sitko and one sister Elizabeth Sitko and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-laws.
Daniel served in the US Army from 1963-1966. He retired from J. I. Case and since enjoyed time with his family, playing card games, working on tractors, going to NASCAR races and yearly trips to the Iola car show, working in his garden, taking road trips to the casino and “conversations” at Sitko’s Bar. He will be missed by those who truly knew and loved him.
Family would like to extend a special thank you to Aspirus Wausau Hospital and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice for their dedicated service that went above and beyond and a heartfelt thank you to all who came to visit, said prayers and called during this difficult time.

Virginia A. Stoltz, 72, Bevent, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Rennes Health and Rehab Center, Weston.
She was born on October 4, 1945 in Stevens Point, the daughter of the late Walter and Esther (Kazmierczak) Wierzba.
On August 5, 1967, Virginia was united in marriage to Robert Stoltz at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Bevent. He survives.
The couple owned and operated the former Easy Meat Processing, Inc., Furman-Sto Farms Inc. and Vi Mi Bo Farms where Virginia was secretary and treasurer. The couple currently owned and operated Bob’s Catering, Bevent, a business they have had for 28 years. Virginia enjoyed traveling and went on many trips all over the world and the United States. She was especially fond of cruises. She enjoyed baking and making desserts, especially Chiffon cakes. Virginia enjoyed attending parties and ‘get-togethers’. Her most favorite times were that spent with family as they were very important to her.
Survivors include her husband, Bob of Bevent; a son, Mike of Bevent; siblings, Phyllis Wierzba of Galloway, Carol Flees of Rosholt, Jane (Lesley) Bloecher of Kronenwetter, Myron Wierzba of Galloway and Robert (Sue) Wierzba of Mosinee; a sister-in-laws; Jane Wierzba of Schofield and Margie Gorecki of Merrill and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Esther; a brother James; mother-in-law, Hattie Stoltz and special uncle, Isadore Furmanek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Bevent. Fr. Augustine Bentil will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday from 4PM to 8PM and again on Saturday from 9AM until the time of Mass all at the church. There will be a Parish Wake Service held at 7:30PM on Friday at the church.
