WAUSAU — A 47-year-old Weston man suspected of smashing into a pole in a Kwik Trip parking lot while drunk is behind bars Monday, according to court documents.

Thomas Borta is being held in the Marathon County Jail on a $10,000 bond, the first $3,000 of which must be paid in cash. Borta faces charges of fifth offense OWI and bail jumping.

Police were called Sunday to the Kwik Trip on Hwy. 51 in Weston for a report of the crash, and say Borta failed field sobriety tests at the scene.

Borta refused a breath test and was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw. Those results were not immediately available.

A review hearing is set for Friday.
