WAUSAU — A 38-year-old Wausau woman is facing an array of new charges after she was recaptured by police on Wednesday.
Police issued a news release last week asking for public help in locating Summer N. Courtney, who was released on a pass from the Marathon County Jail and failed to return.
Courtney was serving a sentence of one year in jail for felony bail jumping and charges of driving or operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, and was given Huber privileges to find work, attend school, or undergo treatment. The sentence was passed down on Nov. 13, one week before she absconded.
Two days later, police were tipped off to Courtney’s whereabouts and arrested her in the 900 block of N. Second Street, according to the Wausau Police Department. In addition to potential felony charges of failing to report to jail, Courtney is being held on preliminary charges of possessing an illegally obtained prescription, possession of marijuana, and obstruction, according to Marathon County Jail records.
Courtney is due in court this afternoon. Official charges are expected to be filed today.
