VILLAGE OF SPENCER — An early morning domestic dispute led to the arrest of a 38-year-old Spencer man on felony drunken driving charges, according to court documents.
Jeremiah Boushack faces charges filed Wednesday in Marathon County Circuit Court of fifth-offense drunken driving and disorderly conduct.
According to the criminal complaint:
Police were called at 1:50 a.m. to a home on East Lincoln Street in Spencer, where a woman said Boushack pushed her repeatedly during an argument. The woman barricaded herself in a room while calling police, and Boushack left the residence before an officer could arrive.
After interviewing the woman, police issued an ‘Attempt to Locate” for Boushack in order to talk to him about the incident. A Marathon County Sheriff’s deputy spotted Boushack driving a short time later and pulled him over.
According to the police report, the deputy noted a “strong odor” of intoxicants when talking to Boushack, who admitted he had been drinking “a lot” before driving. Boushack declined field sobriety tests, telling the deputy he “wouldn’t pass them” anyway, according to the report.
A preliminary breath test shows Boushack was driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.256 percent, nearly 13 times the 0.02 percent limit imposed on him due to his four prior convictions.
Boushack remains jailed on a $5,000 signature bond, the first $3,000 of which must be paid in cash. He faces up to 10 years in prison if he is convicted on the OWI charge alone. His prior OWI convictions happened in 2003, 2007, 2008 and 2012, court records show.
A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 13.
