WESTON — An effort to raise funds for a permanent memorial to four shooting victims, including an Everest Metro Police officer, who died in March 2017 is now underway, with a 5K run/walk event.

Funds raised during the Run to Remember 5K, set for March 17, aims to support a permanent memorial to Detective Jason Weiland, Sara Quirt Sann, Karen Barclay and Dianne Look, in honor of the impact their lives had on those around them, according to a news release.

“The four-sided memorial will ensure they’ll never be forgotten and will always have a lasting presence in our community,” according to Cassandra Ambrosius, an event organizer.

The course will run through the streets of Weston, starting at D.C. Everest Junior High School. Registration is $25 through Feb. 26, then $30 after that date. Shirts are guaranteed through Feb. 15.
