WAUSAU — Less than a week after being sworn in as Wausau Police Department’s new chief, Ben Bliven is reaching out to the community in a video chat posted on the department’s Facebook page.
In the video, linked below, Chief Bliven explains the department’s mission statement and discusses how officers responded to two recent critical incidents: a homicide and an armed standoff.
“Chief’s Chat” is likely to be a recurring feature, the post accompanying the video reads.
The video is an effort to stay connected with the community and offer insight into the department. Residents are encouraged to weigh in on future topics they’d like to see discussed, either through social media or by directly contacting Bliven at the Wausau Police Department.
