WISCONSIN RAPIDS — One person is in custody after a man was found dead Saturday in Wisconsin Rapids, police have confirmed.

Police were called at about 1 p.m. Saturday to an address on the city’s southeast side, where the man’s body was discovered, according to a news release. Multiple media reports say investigators were at Higher Grounds Bakery and Coffee House, where crime scene tape surrounded the building as of late Saturday evening.

One person has been taken into custody and is in the Wood County Jail. Police say the suspect and victim knew one another and the public is not in any danger.

No names have yet been released.

This is the second suspicious death in Wisconsin Rapids in the past week. Police are continuing to investigate the death of 29-year-old Jacob Johnson, whose body was discovered March 17 at a home in the 1500 block of Chestnut Street.

Investigators say the two deaths are not connected.
