WAUSAU — The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department is alerting residents of two staged emergency scenarios set for Monday and Tuesday.

Between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, there will be a significant first responder presence in the downtown Wausau area, according to a news release. There will also be a first responder presence at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rib Mountain on the afternoon of Tuesday May 1.

Multiple agencies from throughout the community, including Wausau Police and Fire Departments, Marathon County Sheriff’s Office and Everest Metro Police Department, will be participating in staged scenarios for photography purposes.

This is part of After Dark 1274, a national workshop for professional photographers. For everyone’s safety please do not enter the marked scenario areas. An image of the warning signage the agencies will use is attached to this post.

After Dark 1274 was brought to the Wausau area by professional photographer Dave Junion to serve as a fundraiser to support the EMPD Blue Hearts. The event will be three days of total immersion in professional photography. On Monday and Tuesday afternoon, AD1274 is working with local law enforcement to create Hollywood styled images.

The EMPD Blue Hearts is an organization that was formed after the events of March 22, 2017.

Their mission is to support local law enforcement officers and their families, the community they live in, as well as law enforcement agencies with fallen officers nationwide.
