WAUSAU — A woman who was forced to jump from her second-story apartment to escape a fire is one of two people taken to a local hospital after a fire ripped through an east-side complex.

The blaze broke out around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at the apartment building, located at 10th and Young Streets. Fire officials say the building could be a total loss. A vehicle near the building also caught fire, officials said.

A man who was trapped on the second floor and rescued by fire crews was also taken to the hospital. The extent of his injuries has not been specified.

A GoFundMe fundraising page publicly identifies the injured woman as 19-year-old Krista Betz. The fundraising page states that Betz is in the ICU and lost all her possessions in the blaze, including items meant for her July wedding. Donations are being collected on the page to help defray medical expenses.
