WAUSAU — An IT outage is blamed for a second straight day of class cancellations at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau.

Officials first detected a problem Monday, when security monitoring systems discovered a cyber-security issue that impacted computer systems on campus. That led to NTC immediately initiating its cyber security response plan, officials said.

“The college currently has no indication that any confidential, personal or financial student or employee data was compromised,” said Kelsi Seubert, communications coordinator at NTC.

School officials have engaged a cyber forensics team to investigate the incident.

Summer classes that do not require technology are running as scheduled.

“NTC’s Information Technology team is working extremely hard to bring information systems back online and we will communicate additional updates to students and staff as they are available,” Seubert said.

Students are receiving updates through the campus messaging system and on Facebook.
