WAUSAU — A pedestrian stumbling down and tumbling into a Wausau street was arrested on her sixth drunken driving charge after admitting she had driven her van to the area, according to a Wausau Police Department report.

Donna Brown, 53, of Weston faces felony drunken driving charges filed Monday in Marathon County Circuit Court. She is being held on a $5,000 cash bond.

Police were called just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday to the 600 block of Grant Street after a concerned citizen reported seeing the woman falling down, according to court filings. When officers arrived, they spoke with Brown, who claimed she was waiting for a ride from a friend. When police spoke with Brown’s friend, he told police he wasn’t sober enough to drive because he had been drinking at two local taverns with Brown, according to the police report.

That’s when Brown admitted to police she had been driving a van that was parked one house away, court documents state.

Brown, who was allegedly unable to complete field sobriety testing, refused a breath test and was taken to Aspirus Wausau Hospital for a chemical test of her blood. Test results are pending.

Court records show Brown was previously convicted of drunken driving in 1991, 1997, 1998, 2010 and 2011. A review hearing is set for Friday afternoon.
