WAUSAU – A 56-year-old Mosinee man who sexually assaulted a woman and hid her in a wooden box in his basement will spend 13 years in prison on charges of sexual assault with the use of force and false imprisonment.
Allen Jamroz was also ordered to pay $2,820.50 in restitution to his victim for medical expenses.
Jamroz was convicted April 5 in Marathon County Circuit Court and sentenced Tuesday, June 26 by Circuit Judge Greg Strasser. As part of a plea agreement, charges of kidnapping and battery were dropped.
Police say the victim was at Jamroz’s home to meet up with his granddaughter on Dec. 28, 2016. That’s when Jamroz lured the victim into his basement, attacked her with a homemade stun gun, then placed duct tape around her wrists and knees before forcing her to perform a sex act, according to the complaint.
After the assault, Jamroz forced the woman to send a text message to two people telling them she was leaving the area, police said. He then forced her into a box, but she was later able to escape by forcing the lid off the box and prying open the basement door with a hammer, according to court documents.
Jamroz could be ordered to pay additional restitution at a future hearing yet to be scheduled.
Jamroz has been held on a $30,000 cash bond since his January 2017 arrest. He will now transfer to the state prison system.
