WAUSAU — Police in Wausau are investigating an attempted armed robbery reported Saturday at a gas station on the city’s west side.

Police were called at 9:22 p.m. to the BMW Fuel Mart, 102 N. Third Ave. for a report of an attempted armed robbery that had just happened, according to a news release. Two unidentified suspects entered the business wearing hooded sweatshirts and bandanas covering their faces. One of the suspects, believed to be male, brandished a handgun and demanded money from the store’s employee, who was restocking merchandise at the time of the attempted robbery.

According to police, the male with the handgun tried to access the cash register area but was pushed out of the business by the female employee before fleeing the business on foot. No money or merchandise was taken and no one was injured, police said.

No customers were inside the business when the suspects entered.

Police are now reviewing surveillance footage from the business and working to identify the two suspects. Anyone with information should call the Wausau Police Department at 715-261-7811.
