HURLEY — Two Hurley men were convicted Monday of conspiring to commit first-degree intentional homicide and of hiding a corpse in connection with the December 2017 death of a Lac du Flambeau man, according to a WJFW report.

Wayne Valliere Jr. disappeared on Dec. 22. His body was discovered on New Years Day in a remote area in Iron County. Autopsy results show Valliere was beaten and had eight gunshot wounds, including two gunshot wounds to the head.

Richard Allen, 27, and Joseph Lussier, 26, each face a mandatory sentence of life in prison. Allen and Lussier are two of five men accused in a plot to kill Valliere because they suspected that Valliere was an informant for police.

A trial for the men began one week ago and the jury deliberated for about 90 minutes before reaching a verdict.

A third defendant, 19-year-old James Lussier reached a plea agreement with prosecutors and was convicted of participating in felony murder and two counts of aiding a felon. He will be sentenced Nov. 5.

Two more men are facing charges in connection with Valliere’s death: 28-year-old Evan Oungst and 26-year-old Curtis Wolfe, both of Eagle River.
