WAUSAU — Executive director of Boys & Girls Club of the Wausau Area, Brian Stezenski-Williams, announced today he will leave the organization that he and a local group of donors and volunteers founded 23 years ago.
“I care deeply about the Boys & Girls Club, our staff and mission, and the young people I’ve watched grow into successful adults,” said Stezenski-Williams in a news release. “We have built this organization and its programming from the ground up, and today, the club has a strong leadership team and board of directors in place. After thoughtful consideration, I feel now is the best time — for both myself and the organization — for me to pass the torch and pursue new opportunities in my career.”
Stezenski-Williams’ official end date will be Aug. 31.
“On behalf of the board of directors, I want to thank Brian for his 23 years of service as the leader of the Boys & Girls Club of the Wausau Area,” said Casey Nye, president of the club’s board of directors, in a news release. “Brian has always been mission-centered. He has created many quality programs and services that have positively shaped the futures of our youth.”
According to Nye, the organization is positioned for a seamless transition with no disruption to programs or services.
“The Club has a talented and tenured leadership team, including assistant executive director Kim Larsen, who does an excellent job of managing the daily operations. The board is most appreciative of Kim and her management skills,” Nye said.
As part of the transition plan, the board’s executive committee will reassess the strategic plan, confer with the national Boys & Girls Club on its future direction and initiatives, and meet with stakeholders to gain perspective on community needs and donor aspirations.
Nye said he anticipates the club will onboard a new executive director by early 2019.
“Although we are going through a transition, our members’ parents can rest assured their children and teens will find the same safe, nurturing and welcoming environment and full suite of services at the club,” Nye said.
