WAUSAU — A Marathon County jury deliberated Friday for just over an hour before finding a 37-year-old former Wausau man guilty of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old child.
Jedidiah M. Pinley, who now lives in Hudson, was convicted after a three-day trial and was immediately taken into custody after the verdict was read.
The assaults happened about 15 years ago but were first reported in November 2017.
According to the police report, the victim, now in her late 20s, came forward after being interviewed by a Lake Hallie detective in an unrelated Chippewa County case involving Pinley. During the interview, the victim learned Pinley had a daughter. Concern that Pinley would victimize his child prompted the woman to report the assaults, according to court filings.
In an the Wausau report, the victim told police Pinley and his then-girlfriend, Jamie Edington, plied her with alcohol on multiple occasions before the pair sexually assaulted her. Charges were filed in April, about five months after the victim filed a report with the Wausau Police Department.
Edington, now 38 and living in Eau Claire, is also facing charges of second degree sexual assault of a child. The case against Edington, who is free on a $2,000 signature bond, has not yet concluded.
A sentencing date for Pinley, who is facing up to 60 years in the Wisconsin Prison System, has not yet been set.
