WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW

NEWS RELEASE — Wausau-area native Kerry Fitzgerald is the new head golf professional at both Tribute Golf Course and Trapp River Golf Course, according to a WGC Operations news release.

Fitzgerald will assume the role immediately.

WGC Operations is the management company for Tribute, the former American Legion, a public nine-hole course at 1001 Golf Club Road in Wausau, and for the public 18-hole Trapp River, at T243124 CTH WW, Wausau. WGC assumed operations at Trapp River in July 2018.

Fitzgerald spent more than 25 years as the PGA Head Golf Professional at Greenwood Hills Country Club. As head of golf operations, WGC officials say he will “continue to use his experience and expertise to enhance the golf experience for all ages and skill levels.”

“We are excited about our team and the future of both golf courses,” said Dan Maas, managing partner of WGC Operations. “The future and opportunities for Tribute and Trapp River Golf Courses is bright. For the past five years, we have been diligently working to improve the guest experience at Tribute, and we will continue to do the same with Trapp River. Kerry is a welcomed addition to the staff of WGC Operations.”

Fitzgerald began his career in 1987 as the Assistant Golf Professional at the Wausau Country Club before accepting the PGA Head Golf Professional position at Merrill Golf Club. He then moved to Greenwood Hills Country Club, where he served as the PGA Head Golf Professional before joining the WGC Operations team.

“I am very excited to be joining the WGC team and look forward to the opportunity to help grow our brand and the game of golf in the Wausau area,” Fitzgerald said. “My passion is teaching the game of golf and my new position allows me to work with a much broader group of people.”
